Housebites is all about great freshly cooked food, and the best food requires some tip top ingredients.
Thankfully these days you can find suppliers of world class ingredients all over the UK, especially here in London (where we’re about to flip the switch and give the green light to our first clusters of pioneering chefs).
And with this blog we, the Housebites Team, want to sing the praises not just of our chefs, but also blow the trumpets of the people who sell the best ingredients…and let you know where to find them too.
So to start us off here’s a couple of favourites to be found in London’s Borough market:
The Ginger Pig
This excellent butcher has four shops across london (Borough, Marlyebone, Hackney & Waterloo). From their merguez sausages,through to British veal and game birds. Everything is top notch and impeccably sourced from traditional breeds. Basically they do a banging steak!
Brindisa are restaurateurs (London Bridge, Soho & Kensington) and importers of the best Spanish produce which they sell at the Brindisa Borough market shop. It’s the place to go for proper saffron, butterbeans, Iberico ham, Padron peppers, Manchego cheese, anchovies and all that good stuff. Also check out their stand just outside: it does yummy grilled chorizo and roasted red peppers in ciabatta every Friday and Saturday lunch.
